Resumen

Although the regulations of Expeditions to the Inca Trail, says that reservations must be made 5 days before, it is best to make the reservation at least 60 days before the departure date. For conservation reasons, the Institution in charge of maintaining this tourist destination has limited entry to 500 people per day, including guides, porters and support staff. So it is necessary to pay the permits in advance

Itinerario

FIRST DAY - Beginning of the Inca Trail

This first day we pick you up from the hotel in Cusco very early to transfer you by road to Chilca, 88 km away. In this place we will contact porters, cooks and the necessary equipment for the excursion. We will start the walk bordering the Urubamba river to reach Patallaqta, where we will have lunch. We continue our journey crossing the Huayllabamba Valley to reach Llullucayoc, where we will camp and have a pleasant dinner. Overnight…

SECOND DAY - Inca Trail

After breakfast we will continue with our walk, appreciating beautiful landscapes and as the flora changes as we advance, we will reach the highest point of the “WARMIWUAÑUSCA” pass (where women die) at 4200 meters above sea level, from where we will have a panoramic view of the snowy peaks, valleys and surrounding mountains.

THIRD DAY - Inca Trail

Breakfast. We leave early ascending towards Runcuracay archaeological zone at 3,700 meters above sea level. We then continue towards Sayacmarka where we will rest and have lunch. Continuing our walk to PUYUPATAMARCA (City above the Clouds), an impressive Inca City. We continue through Wiñaywayna at 2,690 meters above sea level. located in the jungle where we will have dinner and camp. In this camp you will have the option of showers with hot water. (On your own)

FOURTH DAY - Inca Trail

This last day you will have to get up very early to have breakfast and start our walk to Inti Punku or Puerta del Sol, from where you have an impressive panoramic view of the citadel. Upon arrival in Machupicchu, we will take a guided tour of the citadel, visiting the main sites, such as the Main Square, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Solar Clock, the Royal Rooms, the Temple of the Three Windows and the cemeteries. Free time to walk around the citadel and then be transferred by bus to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included). In the afternoon return to Cusco by train. End of services.

  • Surnames (as they appear on the passport).
  • Scanned Passports or IDs (Required).
  • Bring a copy of the Immigration Card (TAM) that will be given to you upon entering Peru.
  • Nationality.
  • Passport number.
  • Date of Birth.
  • Name of your hotel in Cusco.
  • Contact phone numbers.
  • 50% payment of the tour cost.
  • Prices are promotional and for cash payments. If paying with a credit card, an 8% surcharge will be applied to the total amount.
  • Minimum passport validity of 6 months.

    An agency very close to the client We travelled as family and we found that we were treated more like friends rather than customer. Already from the start we could talk, ask lots of questions, change the plan, Gladys would always reply immediately, politely without being annoyed and trust me I ask LOTS of questions; but still perfect answer and we also skype in order to go faster and even more precise. Once that was done, in Peru it was the same, sometimes we had to change something or add places to the program because I've discovered a "must see"; again no annoyance from them, they were happy to add things in our program. Therefore for me it is a perfect agency. My criteria are simple if you are on holidays and you feel pressured by the agency then it is not holidays. With Leading Peru this will never happen, holidays are really holidays, just let them drive you they are excellente

    Day trip to Machu Picchu We used Leading Peru for the one day trip to Machu Picchu. We extended this a bit by staying in Aguas Calientes for one night. They were really accommodating about this and the only extra cost is whatever your hotel charges (and you can find your own / make it as inexpensive as you'd like). They are really responsive and attentive to these kinds of changes. The whole process went pretty well. They came and visited us at our hotel in Cusco the night before we were set to leave to give us all of our tickets and explain the procedures for the next day. The organizer and driver were both really awesome -- knowledgable and very kind. On the actual day, everything went fairly well. There were people set up at each sort of check point shouting our name so we knew to go to them. They kind of drive you to the train, put you on the train, get you from the train to the bus, and get you off the bus. The rest is on your own. The only hiccup was our tour guide was not there when we got off on the bus at Machu Picchu. The Spanish speaking tour guide was there though (and, from what I gathered, the English speaking tour guide who was supposed to meet us there was late -- the Spanish speaking tour guide was kind of reprimanding him on the phone), and he was able to link us up with another English speaking group. I am not totally sure how this transaction occurred. It seems like Leading Peru hooks you up with a bunch of contracted workers rather than employing full time people themselves (though I think this is also what keeps the price very low). So, I don't totally understand how we were kind of pawned off / connected with another tour group (it had a different name and everything), but it happened and we were glad that it did. Once we were with the English speaking tour guide from another agency (I think), everything was really great and he was a good tour guide. Other than that little misstep, everything went really well!
