Itinerario

FIRST DAY.- RECEPTION AND TOUR TO THE CITY OF CUSCO

The day of your arrival at the Cusco airport, we will be waiting for you showing a sign with your name to immediately transfer you to the hotel of your choice. Upon arrival at the hotel you can taste the famous coca tea, this plant has properties that will help your body against altitude sickness, then you can rest and acclimatize a bit in the hotel or if you wish, you could go for a gentle walk through the main streets of the city. By averaging 1:00 p.m. We will pick you up from the hotel to start the tour to the city of Cusco and its surroundings.

This excursion includes a visit to the Plaza de Armas, Cusco Cathedral, Santo Domingo Church, Coricancha Temple and the nearby ruins of Q’enqo, Puka Pukara, Tambomachay and the Sacsayhuaman fortress.

Located 3 km. from the city of Cusco, this impressive fortress of monumental stones and excellent architecture, is famous for its enormous carved stones, some of which are 9 m or 30 feet high and weigh more than 350 tons. In the esplanade of this enclosure, is where the Inti Raymi or “Fiesta del Sol” takes place.

SECOND DAY: TOUR TO MACHU PICCHU IN ONE DAY

We will pick you up from your hotel to take you to the train station to start the excursion to Machu Picchu, the trip lasts an average of 4 hours. Upon arrival at the train station in the town of Aguas Calientes, our guide will be waiting for us, with him we will take the bus that will take us uphill for 30 minutes. to the lost city of the Incas. The excursion includes a guided tour of the citadel, visiting the Main Square, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Solar Clock, the Royal Rooms, the Temple of the Three Windows and the cemeteries, our tour will last approximately more than two hours. Then we will have time to go down to Aguas Calientes and have lunch, you must show up at the train station at least 30 minutes before the return time, the outbound journey will be repeated, upon arrival at the station we will be waiting for you to transfer you to his hotel

THIRD DAY: TOUR TO THE SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS

We pick you up at 08:00 a.m., the tour will begin with a stop at the Corao natural viewpoint where the guide will give you an introduction to the Sacred Valley, continue the tour enjoying a beautiful landscape, the first place to visit It will be the traditional Indian market of Pisaq, here you will be able to do some shopping for souvenirs or handicrafts, you will ascend to the Archaeological Center of Pisaq where after a short walk you will reach the main Inca sites. Continuing with the trip they will go to the city of Urubamba where in an exclusive restaurant you will be able to taste the local gastronomy. In the afternoon we will visit the Fortress and Citadel of Ollantaytambo, built to monitor the entrance to this part of the valley and protect it from possible invasions by the inhabitants of the jungle, Ollantaytambo is currently considered the living Inca town for the conservation of customs and urban style still have their streets. On the way back to Cusco we will visit the picturesque town of Chinchero, where the remains of the royal estate of Túpac Inca Yupanqui are located. You will also admire its well-preserved Inca Wall in the main square and visit the beautiful colonial temple with interesting frescoes on the portico.

FOURTH DAY: FAREWELL

Two hours before your return flight, we will go through the hotel to transfer you and accompany you to the airport to check your ticket, you must pay the airport tax and then board the departure lounge, until here we will accompany you and say goodbye.

We travelled as family and we found that we were treated more like friends rather than customer. Already from the start we could talk, ask lots of questions, change the plan, Gladys would always reply immediately, politely without being annoyed and trust me I ask LOTS of questions; but still perfect answer and we also skype in order to go faster and even more precise. Once that was done, in Peru it was the same, sometimes we had to change something or add places to the program because I've discovered a "must see"; again no annoyance from them, they were happy to add things in our program. Therefore for me it is a perfect agency. My criteria are simple if you are on holidays and you feel pressured by the agency then it is not holidays. With Leading Peru this will never happen, holidays are really holidays, just let them drive you they are excellente

 Verificada Day trip to Machu Picchu
We used Leading Peru for the one day trip to Machu Picchu. We extended this a bit by staying in Aguas Calientes for one night. They were really accommodating about this and the only extra cost is whatever your hotel charges (and you can find your own / make it as inexpensive as you'd like). They are really responsive and attentive to these kinds of changes. The whole process went pretty well. They came and visited us at our hotel in Cusco the night before we were set to leave to give us all of our tickets and explain the procedures for the next day. The organizer and driver were both really awesome -- knowledgable and very kind. On the actual day, everything went fairly well. There were people set up at each sort of check point shouting our name so we knew to go to them. They kind of drive you to the train, put you on the train, get you from the train to the bus, and get you off the bus. The rest is on your own. The only hiccup was our tour guide was not there when we got off on the bus at Machu Picchu. The Spanish speaking tour guide was there though (and, from what I gathered, the English speaking tour guide who was supposed to meet us there was late -- the Spanish speaking tour guide was kind of reprimanding him on the phone), and he was able to link us up with another English speaking group. I am not totally sure how this transaction occurred. It seems like Leading Peru hooks you up with a bunch of contracted workers rather than employing full time people themselves (though I think this is also what keeps the price very low). So, I don't totally understand how we were kind of pawned off / connected with another tour group (it had a different name and everything), but it happened and we were glad that it did. Once we were with the English speaking tour guide from another agency (I think), everything was really great and he was a good tour guide. Other than that little misstep, everything went really well!
